Title:   Black Glaze Kantharos Fragment with Paint Decoration

Description:   Mended from several fragments; handles and much of rim and upper wall missing; profile complete. Simple cup foot with short stem. Deep rounded lower body lightly offset from steep upper wall; plain slightly flaring rim.
Good blue-black glaze. Vertical face of foot, resting surface and center of cone within foot reserved. Two scraped grooves around stem, one at junction with bowl, the other below.
Decoration on upper wall just below rim: ivy wreath, the leaves reserved, the stems and berries in faded white.
For the wreath, cf. P 2322; for the shape, Richter and Milne (1935), fig. 169, with same foot, but cup more squat.
Context:   Pier 11, east, to good strosis bottom of 7th. foundation course (= Stoa construction fill). Hellenistic context.
