Title:   Black Figure Lekythos

Description:   Mouth and foot and some wall fragments missing; mended from several pieces. Concave shoulder-flare.
White ground. Decoration: shoulder, bars and rays. Body: running maeander to right; then six large palmettes in pairs vertically opposed, the outer pairs tip to tip, the inner pair base to base. Below, reserved stripe, white stripe and double white stripe on the black glazed lower part. Handle black above. Red wash on reserved surface. Surface badly worn.
ADDENDA Not a common palmette composition; the upper half of it cf. CVA Cop. 3, pl. 112, 16.
Context:   Fifth c. deposit, bone area no. 8; area of Mycenaean chamber tomb at north side of Temple of Ares.
