Title:   Askos
Category:   Pottery
Description:   Missing much of handle and spout, and about half the body; restored in plaster. Spreading ring foot. Body flaring below, convex above, bulging at the middle. Vertical spout, with high concave neck, bulging at its base outside. The lip flares slightly and is marked off from the neck by an incised groove. Flat vertical handle rises steeply from behind spout and falls in a gentler curve to a point on the shoulder opposite the spout but lower down than the other handle root. On the body beneath the handle is a small moulded nob with conical top, as if to suggest a lid. The illusion is reinforced by two incised grooves describing a partial circle, beginning and ending on opposite sides of the lower handle root. The grooves become indistinct in the space between spout and handle.
Slate gray fabric, the surface of darker color than the interior.
