Description: | Fragment from outer edge. Broad rim with a step down at the inside above, and very slight collar on underside. Female figure holding a box suspended by cords from her right hand (lower part of right side only remains); she wears a peplos and bracelet. Approaching from left Eros holding a phiale(?), from which hang ribbons, in his left hand and a feather fan in his right; he wears an amulet string and his himation hangs over his left arm. Egg and dot pattern on the rim. Firm white for Eros; traces of white (possibly once another color) on his himation, the fan and the box. Traces of gold for the strings of the box; blue for Eros' wings. Applied clay for the bracelet, divisions of Eros' wings, the skeleton of his fan and of the box, the hanging ribbons and the hearts of the egg pattern. Glazed on underside except the collar. Pink clay. Rather dull glaze. | |
