Title:   Plate Fragment: Stamped

Description:   A segment of the bottom and a bit of the wall or a Late Roman B plate; no rim. Very low foot ring, within which the bottom rises slightly; the side curves very gently up. Around the center a band of rectangles stamped with a checkerboard pattern. Inside, a band of curved motifs, hatched.
Clay rather coarse; yellow to orange. Dull red wash inside; thinner outside.
Context:   Late Roman fill. 4th. c. A.D.
