Title:   Amphora Fragments with Graffiti

Description:   Upper part of amphora with spreading lip and broad shoulder; outer face of rim rounded and undercut. Two grooves at junction of neck and shoulder.

Another one on other side, on shoulder (20 minas): <graphic>
Thin micaceous russet-brown clay.
ADDENDA The two weights should be tare (weight of the empty vessel) and net weight of the contents. If AM is the abbreviation for amphora, the jar will have weighed 12 minas (5.460 kg.) and the contents 20 minas (9.100 kg.). If the content was wine, that would be 9.100 liters; if oil, 10.100 liters [ML, April 1954].
Toe of probable connection found in container 73, now called P 23948b. Similar distinctive clay and interior surface. Peg which narrows toward bottom and has hole.
