Description: | Mouth, neck, upper wall piece and fragment from foot missing. General type as P 24316 (ΣΑ 2526): This is the characteristic general type for the large proportion of the lekythoi from this group. Bell mouth with variations in height and spread; lip usually reserved, occasionally glazed. Disk foot of varying thickness; below picture either one or two reserved lines. Added colors more or less well preserved. Only substantial variations are noted in the following descriptions. Shoulder: strokes above rays. Scene: Herakles moving rapidly right to shake hands with Athena; behind Athena, draped figure (upper half missing) walking right; behind Herakles, draped figure holding a wreath, sits left, looking back. | |
