Title:   Black Figure Hydria Fragments
Category:   Pottery
Description:   Fragment a) made from three fragments: lower part of woman, in chiton and himation, left; facing her, seen in three-quarters view, Hermes, lower part preserved. Behind Hermes, at the upper left corner of the fragment part of chests of horses. Below the scene, part of palmette band.
Fragment b): part of wheel, tail and hoof of horses, the one in white. Part of the palmette band with small ivy leaves between them.
Fragment c): part of draped figure right and behind it small part of drapery and a woman's hand (another figure).
The scene, among others, might have been a wedding pair on chariot (e.g. Black figure amphora BM, CVA, pl. 38, 1a by the Amasis painter, Zeus, Hera wedding); or Apotheosis of Herakles (e.g. black figure amphora BM, CVA, pl. 40, 1b). Such bands often occur on black figure hydriai of the Leagros period.
Much use of white for garments and details of red also.
