Description: | Fragment from neck; ivy wreath with berries around. Below, at right, a tripod standing on an Ionic column. At left, the tops of two heads, that at the left certainly female (white for flesh), the other uncertain, possibly male; both wear wreaths. The woman's cloak is seen behind her head, as if blown by the wind. The man's head covering may be an animal skin. Possibly a pair in a chariot, the woman standing in it, the man just mounting. Inscribed above the heads, in white paint; hardly legible: <graphic> White for the woman's face, for the column and the inscriptions. Ivy wreath around neck, wreaths on heads and tripod carefully rendered in added clay. ADDENDA The head on the right certainly female: a dot of applied clay for the earring. | |
