Description: | From shoulder of a large amphora. Head and shoulders of Athena standing facing, looking right. The right arm, bent at the elbow, is extended left, and could hold an object (spear?, helmet?) of which a little remains at left edge of fragment. Fillet with leaves; necklace; peplos; large dotted aegis, bordered on either side with straight bands, to which snakes are attached. Two reserved lines above. No relief contour; dilute glaze on borders of aegis. Inside, glazed black to base of neck; dilute below. | |
Context: | Cut in front of S.E. Fountain House, martyr along Fountain House. Loose fill over pipes. | |
