Title:   Red Figure Cup Fragment: Type C

Description:   Mended from several pieces; nearly half the rim preserved and the start of both handles. The stem entirely missing. Irregular reserved circle framing the medallion which depicts a crouching warrior, right. The medallion complete save for a small piece through the warrior's right arm and the border. The warrior, nude save for his cap and a cloak over his outstretched left arm, faces right in a crouching, or knee-running position, a spear in his right hand. At the forehead the cap has a sort of beak, or perhaps his hair is showing. Narrow eye, full face; the glaze has peeled off from the lines at the inner corner. Handle spaces not reserved. Traces of red wash. Relief contours; the inner drawing in heavy relief lines.
