Title:   Moldmade Amphora Fragment: West Slope

Description:   Lower part preserved, to start of shoulder. Much of the broad spreading foot missing, but profile complete. Surfaces chipped and worn. Sizable amphora, the lower part made in a large Megarian mould, the foot and upper part made separately. On the shoulder, above a scraped groove, traces of west slope decoration. On the wall, set off by elaborate vine motif, four scenes: labors of Theseus. On the underside, within the foot, double rosette medallion; bases of leaves around. Rim ornament, above a rinceau band, rosettes alternating with leaves.
Glaze dull; interior and underside of foot fired red, and largely peeled. Resting surface reserved; scraped groove around foot.
