Title:   Red Figure Cup Fragment: Type B
Category:   Pottery
Description:   Head of youth, right, in corner of fragment; back of neck and tip of chin are missing; hair rendered with plain outline like skull cap, garlanded, (simple band round back of head, summary representation of flowers(?) over brow). In the field above, right, part of some object with bow of string tied to it (wine skin?). Outlines of back of head and surrounding black glaze background are distinct, with narrow reserved band between, and are of the same rather coarse variety of relief lines as are used for the interior drawing. Details inconvenient to reserve, (garland, and bowknot on object in the field) are painted over black glaze with thick paint imitating the clay in color and texture. Frontal eye in profile face curious in company with these developed labor-saving devices.
Attic clay, good black glaze.
Manner of the Euergides Painter.
