Agora Object: P 32394
Inventory Number:   P 32394
Section Number:   ΒΖ 238
Conservation Number:   622
Title:   DA 13525
Category:   Pottery
Description:   About two thirds preserved, mended from numerous fragments. Deep askos with hollow tube. Rounded base, very high body. Spout with broad, concave rim around hole, short strap handle to other side of tube. Rounded foot, tall body, short handle all unparalleled in Agora XII; this among earliest examples of shape?
Dull black glaze, misfired red at bottom.
Context:   Well.
Handling:   In its own box
More sherds that fit with this askos might be found next season if the rest of the well is excavated. These could be fit into the vessel as it is preserved at present without, I think, current joins having to be undone. If no more sherds are found it would be better to make a plaster fill around the bottom of the vessel to support the wall sherds.
