Description: | Mended from many fragments. Complete except for small gaps. A few small loose fragments in separate bag. Surface decoration preserved but flaking. Narrow neck, cut away and pinched to form trough spout which rises at an oblique angle. Small ridge at junction of neck and shoulder. Handle from rim opposite spout to shoulder, terminating in small knob projection. Broad globular body, sloping to small raised base, flat underneath. Pierced holes at both ends of handle. Painted decoration: main body decoration consists of three sets of lilies (FM 9, h,i) connected to running spirals below. On shoulder, four panels of wavy lines. On neck, triple spirals (FM 47,4) alternating with panels of wavy lines (3 or 2). On handle, vertical quirk (FM 48,5). At attachment of handle to shoulder stylistic octopus (?) with five tentacles. Wide band around base with a narrower one above. Two bands below midpoint, one at junction of neck, one along rim framing the whole handle. Four stripes on spout. Motif: LHIIIA:I Pale orange fabric; white creamy slip. Orange paint. | |
