Description: | Reused African red slip ware dish fragment. Roughly cut disc, with centering hole added underneath. Counter. From floor of a flat-based dish with stamped decoration: part of an outer decorated band with remains of a groove (possibly "triple groove" arrangement) toward the missing center. Stamps: quintuple circle and a pair of double circles, pressumably originally alternating (Hayes LRP style A iii. Stamps types 24, 28). Red clay, red slip on top. About AD 410-440? | |
