Title: | Basin Fragment | |
Category: | Pottery | |
Description: | The rim of a deep basin with flaring rim, hanging downward; on top of the rim is applied an upper rim, in part circular, in part star-shaped in section, with a horizontally projecting round boss, hollowed, and with a round hole within molded rings on its upper face. This boss was probably balanced by another opposite. The upper rim does not seem to have been continuous, as both preserved ends of it, although broken, seem to be about to end. On the side of the vase an egg-shaped object was applied, its outline can be clearly traced on the vase wall, and there was an attachment to the upper rim above. Coarse, pinkish buff clay, creamy slip. Possibly same vessel as P 8746. | |
