ΤΙΤΛΟΣ: | Τμήμα κύλικας με παράσταση νέου που κουρδίζει τη λύρα του και λαγού 480 π.Χ. περίπου
Category: | Pottery | |
Description: | The base, most of the central medallion, and one handle are preserved. Medallion is outlined with a single line of brown glaze. The figure is that of a standing youth (Apollo?) facing right and playing a lyre. He wears a purple himation thrown over his left shoulder leaving the right free. The back and upper part of the head are missing; a few strands of curly hair hang over the ear; the head is seen in profile; the features are delicate and carefully rendered; the eye not quite completely in profile. The lyre is painted in brown glaze for the curving arms, the sounding board is left white and indicated by a relief outline as is a band hanging from one arm. The seven strings are indicated by thin lines of yellowish white. Before the figure sits a rabbit with one paw raised; he is painted yellow and his fur is indicated by short strokes of dilute glaze. The white glaze of the background is creamy and hard in texture; the figure is drawn in lines of brown glaze of great delicacy; the flesh is the white of the background, while the garment is a purplish red matte paint. Additional fragments found in 1933 give the upper part of the boy's head and much of the rim, together with most of the inscription: ] ΡΙΝΟΣΚ[
