Title:   Krater Fragment: West Slope

Description:   From upper part of a large krater(?). Straight vertical lip, below which there is a projecting ledge, perhaps to receive a lid? In the angle where bottom of lip and ledge meet an incised line filled with red. Below the lip the body swells outward as it goes down, being slightly concave in profile; it is decorated, in thinned clay paint, with an ivy vine running horizontally, shooting forth above and below alternative leaves and berry clusters. The berry stems and berries are incised, not painted.
Attic clay, glazed black inside, red outside.
Context:   Green mixed fill in bottom of drain. Context of 3rd. to 1st. century, with late Roman intrusions.
