Title:   Amphora with Paint Decoration

Description:   Mended from many pieces; a piece missing from the rim and many from the walls. Ring foot; egg-shaped body; two horizontal handles at the point of greatest circumference. Sloping shoulder; neck slightly flaring; thickened lip. Decorated on shoulder and neck with bands of thin dull paint, red and black, alternating and in groups. Bands of black over the handles. On the body, on each side, three flower-like motifs in red, resting on a triple band.
Coarse gray to red clay with pronounced core and many large white bits; moderately thick fabric. Cream slip on the exterior, and the interior of the neck. Inside, thin gray wash.
