Title:   Black Figure Amphora or Oinochoe Fragment

Description:   Fragment of a closed pot.
Forequarters and lower part of head of Sphinx to right, facing toward a human figure of which only the lower part, draped to the ground in an elaborately embroidered garment, is preserved. Incision for most main outlines and details; added purple on hair and wing of Sphinx, for a panel of the drapery and for the hair(?) of the figure at the right. Between the figures, a dot rosette. Below, a series of horizontal bands in thin glaze, with two bands of vertical dashes.
Fine pinkish-buff clay, micaceous.
