Title:   Red Figure Amphora Fragment

Description:   From the shoulder of a large pelike (?). Unglazed inside, polished; surface much battered. At the left, a youth wearing an himation, moves right, playing flutes which are attached to a headband. In the center a small draped figure broken away, faces right; at right, a bearded figure, wearing an himation and holding a slender staff, faces left. At the extreme left of the fragment is a bit of a tray for offerings; held out by a fourth figure(?). AboIUU--*-----------------------+§ve, behind the flute-player's head, trace of some other object.
Relief contour for profile and neck, and staff; spasmodically elsewhere. The glaze of hair and beard runs to brown. White (worn) for leaves on fillets and tray, and for a streamer depending from object at upper left.
