Title:   Plaque Fragment

Description:   Broken all around. Back roughly finished. Fragment of a large painted pinax, possibly a metope. Most of preserved surface covered with metallic black glaze. At one edge trace of painted design: an incised line and a line of added red, then a reserved space with three lines of dilute glaze.
Clay coarse and crumbly, with marks of straw.

Context:   Among small loose stones, roundish hole cut in red. Disturbed by late wall. Sherds chiefly Greek, 6th. c. and earlier.
