| Description: | a) Bottom preserved. Part of a procession of dancing figures. In the center of the fragment, the legs and part of the trunk of a man dancing right, his weight on his left leg, his right raised high and bent sharply at the knee. He apparently wears long close-fitting trousers, shoes or slippers and a short cloak, a bit of which appears above. At left the raised knee of a similar figure, and at right, part of the feet of a third. Low flat relief. b) Right hand corner and bottom preserved. Probably joins, at left, to fragment a). It adds part of the figures seen to the right on a), and, at the corner, a draped standing female figure. On the adjacent face is part of another dancing figure. c) Relief face only preserved. Parts of three masked dancing figures. Head and paunchy bodies in front view, legs (shown on a) and b) in profile to right. They wear low polos-like hats, and carry long poles or spears in their left hands. Above and between the heads of the central and right figures, the last three letter of the inscription -Κ Ω Ν. Pentelic marble. Also S 1586 (Π 873). | |
