Title:   Grave Stele Fragment

Description:   Lower right corner of capital of archaic grave stele. Broken above, at left and behind.
Across bottom a row of tongues picked out in paint, traces of which remain.
Above tongues a horizontal fillet with traces of red paint. At upper right of fragment of volute, with red on inner part. Rough cutting in underside for insertion of tenon or dowel. Traces of hard cement on all faces and edges show that the fragment in its present form was used as a building stone.
Hymettian marble.
