Title:   Head of Female Figure from Relief
Category:   Sculpture
Description:   The head is broken off at the base of the neck; nose, brow, mouth and chin are damaged. The backing is broken all around and is rough-picked behind. The woman's head faces front, with her hair parted in the center and drawn back so that locks of long hair fall on either side of her neck. The hair is very summarily indicated above the front locks and is gathered in a knot above. Rasp marks show on the chin and neck.
Pentelic marble.
Context:   In loose, late Byzantine filling.
