Title:   Stamped Amphora Handle: Thasian
Category:   SS Thasian
Description:   The lower attachment and nearly the whole handle preserved; not the upper attachment, but a spreading toward it at the upper break; medium broad; finger print (right thumb?) at base.
The clay is reddish-buff on the outer surface; in the thickness of the handle it has baked the same color at the core with a red ring near the surface; the shoulder fragment (lower attachment) is red inside and for much of its thickness.
Somewhat worn impression incomplete to the left.

A seal with this device (a coin type of Thasos of the 4th century) and with the first of these names, was found at Corinth in a deposit closed by 338 B.C.
