Title: | Hair Fragment of Statue
Category: | Terracotta | |
Description: | Long locks of wavy hair. Original finished surface on inside suggests that the piece comes from the back of the neck and left shoulder of an almost life-sized figure. At left the edge of the shoulder and the bottom of the second lock of hair is preserved. Broken all around. Note that the waves in the hair reverse near right of piece, about on line with a finished groove inside which gives the line of a wooden (?) support through the neck of the head. Yellow-brown clay, black paint on hair. ADDENDA Similar in clay and workmanship to T 3138 (T 1446); from same group (?); and T 3275 (t 2285); see also T 3317 (T 2503).
