Title:   Impression of Shield of Athena Parthenos

Description:   Single fragment, smoothed on back.
Impression of upper third of Gorgoneion, with centrally parted hair in wavy horizontal lines framing double-creased forehead and one eyebrow of Medusa. Around head spirals (snaky knots); two complete, two broken away. Above head, lower half of skirted belted figure moves left; right leg extended, left bent at knee and turned in direction of motion. Possible traces of (two?) further figures at extreme right and left edges of fragment.
Buff fabric with fine black inclusions and mica.
