Title: | Female Head | |
Category: | Terracotta | |
Description: | Broken off at the neck. Open behind: the edges look as if it had been intended for attachment; but the heavy white slip which covers the outside also covers a large part of the interior, and runs over the joining edge at one point. The features very crudely rendered. Over the exceptionally heavy slip considerable traces of color: red around the mouth; yellow with red dots on a high headdress, and on a band round the neck. Brick red clay.
Context: | Lowest layer above bedrock. Found with coins, and late Roman pottery and lamps.
