Using Basket #1 we began digging the cobbled strosis in the northern part of Room #3 at ΠΓ/98-97, +85.624. [Finds stamp.]
This strosis was discovered in fill #3 of April 19 (see p. 22). On the east and west we cleared away rubble and soft fill down to the same irregular strosis (+85.464-85.304) on which Wall #2 was built. One coin was found in this fill.
The remaining area, roughly a meter square and paved with rock, dirt, and plaster, was cut through by both Wall #1 and Wall #2; the trenches of these walls were filled with the earth and stones we removed with Basket #1. [AG-the sentence is not very clear, but from a pencil sketch on p. 59 it seems that the context actually has two components, the side cobble fills in the trenches of the two later walls and the central preserved part of the floor.] This strosis was probably contempory [sic] with Wall #16, which also contains mortar.
