Notes:   April 18 (p. 15-16, 17)
I resumed excavating in area Π-ΠΗ/96-100, continuing with Basket #2 of April 17. A Turkish pipe bowl was found in this fill, as well as 2 coins. Packed-dirt floor surfaces appeared at the following floor levels: Room 3 south of Wall #4 and west of Wall #1 sloping from south to north, +85.974 to +85.734; Room 4 east of Wall #1 and south of Wall #3, +85.904; Room 5 east of Wall #1 and north of Wall #3, +86.039. I took a photograph showing Walls #1-#2 from the south with Room 3 and floor +85.974/+85.734 between (Neg. 61-5-1,2; Ph. Vol. 18, no. 26).
Dirt floor +85.974/+85.734 in Room 3 enclosed by Walls #1-#4 appears contempory [sic] with these walls, extending up to their inner faces. A soft space appears between the east face of Wall #1 and floors +85.904 in Room 4 and +86.039 in Room 5. Wall #1 apparently cut through these floors, which antedate it. Wall #3 appears contempory [sic] with floor +85.904 in Room 4 and floor +86.039 in Room 5, which extend to its north and south faces. A soft area along the east face of Wall #2 indicates that it postdates floor +85.974/+85.734 in Room 3 and cut through it. I dug below these floor levels, placing Basket #3 in Room 3, Basket #4 in Room 4, and Basket #5 in Room 5. [Find stamps.]
In the fill of Basket #4 was found a flat metal object of irregular outline at ΠΕ/100 and at ΠΕ/99 some metal links, possibly armor. In this same fill appeared Wall #5 running N-S from the S face of Wall #3 to the S edge of the excavation. In the same fill at ΠΣΤ/100 at the E end of Room 4 appeared a small stone construction. … Walls #5-#6 appear to be a continuous wall earlier than Wall #3 and cut through by it.
April 19 (p. 19)
I continued excavating area Π-ΠΗ/96-100, using Baskets #4, #5 and #6 of April 18.
