Notes:   In S we have now reached a depth of 4.70 for the last 0.30 we seem to be in a loose uninhabited stereo (2 sherds in it).
S XVI 4.25-4.70. Stereo at 4.70. Coarse ware and some Urfirnis. We have stopped work in S. (For stratification in S, cf. page 374).

Coarse unpainted ware 14 sherds incl.
3 pieces of a broad flat ribbon handle.
Plain buff and yellow green 13 sherds
3 or 4 are well polished and have a good surface. Others nondescript 3 are greenish local clay
Urfirnis (a) black-brown wash 6 sherds
3 are somewhat polished. 1 is from a large pithos with cuneiform incision on rim.
(b) black glaze {of poor sort} 4 sherds
(c) red surfaced 3 sherds (polished)
(d) 1 coarse sherd has a sort of brown wash outside and apparently a thin white wash inside.
