Notes: | P VIII 1.60-1.85. Characterized by a good deal of Minyan and some Mattmalerei. Some of latter is local. I think Urfirnis is beginning to appear. One piece of black polished ware with incised pattern. At 1.80 deep is a fairly thick layer of black. Pieces of burnt brick; ashes, some bones. [p. 361] P VIII 1.60-1.85 (Heavy layer of ash at 1.85) Minyan is characteristic ca. 40 sherds gray, gray-black and brown and 8 or 10 polished black. One rather coarse piece of poorly well polished black has incisions and is pierced with holes. [sketch of sherd with decoration] [MN: 37 real M., 7 black and brown local M., 6 black polished] Mattmalerei 3 sherds 1 is black on red buff [sketch of sherd with decoration] 2 is black on gray burnt? [sketch of sherd with decoration] 3 is black and red on buff (The red is an orange red) [sketch of sherd with decoration]. The 2 narrow inner lines are red. The outer broad bands are black. There seems to be a sort of Urfirnis ground slip. Urfirnis 20 sherds mostly showing a poor thin coat of varnish 2 pieces are of decorated type [sketch of sherd with decoration] fairly lustrous red- brown on gray coat of urf. slip. Interior has black slip. Coarse ware. 11 or 12 one with irregular incised lines [MN: obsidian 1 piece] | |
