Stratum: | Trench S extension north II (S II)
Notes: | We have found a well built wall ca. 1.20 deep. In order not to injure it we are widening trench S to north and plan to go down north of this wall. We have therefore a second set of baskets for S I and S II Tzonou-Herbst= SI and SII referred to as SI and SII extension north to distinguish them from extension south further down in transcription. [James-Nakassis: The elevations for the north extension are taken from those of the main section of trench S (so we are assuming that he is digging the same levels).] [This pottery is probably from NB 81 B 79, NB 81 B 83 and NB 81 B 90] [p. 368] S II 0.30-0.65 Mycenaean LM III painted about 70 sherds or more. Decoration is conventional late style. About 20 sherds are painted solid with red or brown-black varnish (much like Hieratic vessel) reminds of Urfirnis method. Unpainted Mycenaean ca. 20 sherds. Coarseware ca. 16 sherds Minyan 6 sherds Mattmalerei 3 sherds dull black on buff (2) on yellow green (1) fairly coarse Obsidian 1 chunk Terracottas -- forepart of 1 quadruped and rear portion of another (2)
