Notes: | S VI 1.45-1.65 or 1.70. Largely Minyan. Mostly fairly coarse sherds. We have struck so many walls and stones that it becomes impossible for us to proceed deeper without destroying something. [This pottery below is from both B 87 and B 104] [p. 371] S VI 1.45-1.70 (2 trays) [MN: check mark] Minyan (a) gray 13 sherds 9 wheel - 4 handmade (b) black-gray 9 sherds wheelmade [AddN for (a) and (b): Real Minyan] (c) hand polished imitation of Minyan black 28 sherds brown 6 sherds. A good many of these have incised lines (cf. Tiryns and Mycenae) or stamped concentric circles or both. Finely polished. 2 other sherds not well polished [MN: 58 sherds Argive Minyan] [MN: circles were filled with white. Lines were not] Coarse polished ware ca. 1 doz sherds Coarse unpolished ca. 30 sherds [p. 372] Plain buff surfaced 4 sherds Urfirnis (a) poor wash etc. 10 sherds (b) decorated 1 sherd brown-black on buff. Looks Urfirnis rather than Mattmalerei [sketch of sherd] Mattmalerei (a) black on green or yellow green 18 sherds (note St. Andrew’s cross inside 2 concentric circles) Handmade and rather coarse (b) black on buff and red buff 9 sherds. Some of these seem wheelmade. (c) Purple black on buff and red buff 4 sherds. Somewhat polished. One seems handmade. Note: biscuit is buff.
