Stratum:   dark reddish-brown fine soil, with a few pieces of gravel, E of wall 188 and west of W220
Notes:   B36 is a continuation of RTXX at the N of the grid, on the west side of W220 and running westward into the foundation of W188. The dirt is similar to B35; fragments of fresco are found. At the W end especially the soil is very fine. The extension of W220 can now be described, as both sides have been exposed: it is composed of two courses of cobbles that have been lowered into a dirt foundation trench. Its width at this point is 52 cm. As we continue removin B36 we uncover small cobbles lying close together in hard-packed soil, very much like we found at the W end of B35.
