Stratum:   Deposit east of Wall 190. Dark brown silty clay with 40% larger pebbles and 5% larger cobbles.
Notes:   B 83 is an area of dark pebbly soil left along wall 244 up to the S. end of wall 190. We are removing this strip from the W. end of wall 244 and along it to the E. to the end of the grey area visible on the surface. We were originally only going to remove the raised pebbly area along wall 244 to the level of the rest of the ground between the two walls and the archaic cutting. However, the dark pebby soil was found to continue down into this level and to stretch alon wall 190 as far as the edge of the archaic cutting. This area was all excavated as one basket. A 20 cm. protective strip was left along wall 244 but not wall 190.
