Stratum:   Deposit west of Wall 190. Grayish brown silty sand with 70% medium to large rounded and subrounded pebbles and tabular angular cobbles, compact and weakly cemented
Notes:   B96 is a pebbly area west of Wall 190 and on the western edge of B79. We are excavating it in order to find the edges of the red soil which was uncovered during the excavation of B79. This pebbly layer initially appears to lie over the red soil. The soil is a grayish brown silty sand with 70% medium to large rounded and subrounded pebbles and tabular angular cobbles. It is compact and weakly cemented. After this area was excavated, it was found to lie over the reddish soil and to extend to the west into the scarp. The excvation of this grayish brown pebbly area helped to define the top of the red soil and to a small extent the border between the reddish soil and the gray area, a possible pit, west of Wall 190. The border between these two areas is still unclear in some places. In order to further clarify this boundary, we cleaned to the east of B96, in and on the SW scarp of the Archaic cutting which does act as one border of the possible pit due to the fact that the Archaic cutting cuts into it.
