| Notes: | Basket 97 is the continuation of the excavation of the fill of Well 2002-2. The soil continues to be the same as that of the basket above, B95, a reddish brown sandy clay with 10% cobbles that are subrounded and angular and rare pebbles. The soil is weakly cemented, semi-compact, and breaks into small clumps when struck with the small pick. There is less speculation now concerning whether it is a well or a bothros. The depth, the quantity of finds, and the shape seem to confirm that this is indeed a well. Additional cleaning of the walls of Well 2002-2 have revealed also as many as five cuttings for handholds up to this point. We are still wet sieving 10% and dry sieving 90% of the soil. As the excavation of this basket continues, the soil is becoming wetter and is sticking to the tools. Towards the end of this basket, the winch was set up over the well. A large fragment of a female TC figurine (head and torso) was found at a depth of 88.17 m ASL. | |
