Stratum:   Non-violent destruction layer: compact silty-sand, yellowish-brown with 15% inclusions of small-medium pebbles, tiles, little plaster, mud brick. Poorly sorted.
Notes:   This basket is the excavation of a non-violent destruction layer; little charcoal is found. Entire basket sieved 4 zembils dry-sived to 1 water sieved.
8 loom wieghts found; 4 removed to museum, 4 left in situ. They will be removed in B 70. A terra cotta fragment with gold leaf paint. See plan in notebook for position of the objects. 64 tile fragments uncovered, weight = 29,6 kg. Most of the tiles were found by wall 294. One very large tile measuring roughly .40 by .40 m also found. Tiles have been joined between baskets 61, 64 66, & 69. A fragment of a Hellenisitic hopper-mill and a rectilinear standardized lead weight that has either an alpha or a lambda as a central device. Weight unknown, perhaps a mina?? This weight was found through seiving. Cobble size mud-brick, one with a flat interior face. See NB 977 B54 for a ninth loom weight. A pottery fall was uncovered in the N of the stratum. Photographs were taken of this fall. Greyish clay? Of small cobble size also uncovered. Many iron nails, a terra cotta leg, and a large pithos base also number amoung the finds. Most of the nails found near wall 294 at the N end of B69.
Fragments of a mold for megarian bowls have also been found and sent to the museum. This mold is also known from NB 977.
After the pottery fall was cleaned, photos were taken (see p 156 of NB 976). Small pebbles found in the center of the pottery fall that are well-sorted. Baskwet stopped so that the area between the pottery fall and the floor could be excavated in a separate basket..
