Stratum:   Fill east of B19 to edge of trench - medium blackish brown compact sandy silt with 5% medium to coarse pebbles.
Notes:   This soil is medium blackish brown compact sandy silt with 5% medium to coarse pebbles. It extends from c. 975.00 N to 970.25 S but not south of this - the soil to the south is whiter and more compact - perhaps more robbing trench 215?
A figurine head was found at the SW area of the basket. There are plaster fragments scattered throughout, but with concentration to the SE.
Another large stone surfaced almost in line with the stone from B19 and B18 - c. 973.25 N (wall 291). A large red sherd with black surface rests just W of this stone.
W of 413.80 E the soil became softer and more of a mixed reddish and blackish brown. We decided to finish removing the blackish soil E of 413.80 E in basket 23 since it was similar to the soil in that basket.
At the very E of the trench a section of blackish brown loose soil runs along the scarp at 415E. It is 1/3 m wide or less. The other half was dug by NB 973 p. 59 B 21. Date in that NB was Roman 3rd-4th A.C., identified as a cutting.
Elevations after B23:
A: 414.89 E, 971.34 N, 91.75 H
B: 414.37 E, 971.88 N, 91.74 H
C: 412.79 E, 971.50 N, 91.71 H
Slope at the end of excavation was 91.71 to 91.75
