Stratum:   Levelling course. Soil is medium light brownish brown sandy clay with 30% pebbles, 20% cobbles, loose.
Notes:   B 79 is the excavation of what is the foundation trench or levelling course south of wall 215. We are removing this in order to continue taking out the soil directly south of it (B 78). It most likely runs over the foundation trench of wall 289. It appears as if we may have a threshold for a door. We have come down on a clear block just south of what is left of the wall. We had a zambil of tile: 54 tiles, 20.6 kg. It remains uncertain as we have come down on two larger stones if this is another course of the wall or a threshold. Found oyster shell. Sieved 100%. See top pg. 165.
