Stratum:   Crust layer
Notes:   The matrix is weakly cemented brown sandy silt with 15-20 % angular and subrounded cobbles. B37 is the removal of a crust layer determined to be on top of the clay layer that joined the bottom of B32 and part of B36. The crust extends from the N baulk of the grid all the way down to the S one. In removing the crust it will be possible to determine the relationship between the deposit in the W side of the waterchannel (B33) into which it was determined that the water channel is cut. The chronological sequence of the strata between the jar (B34) and the water channel bas been difficult to establish. It is also noteworthy that this crust appears to cover the stata that should contain the contamination of the water pipe trench (NB973 B23) coming from the SW. Removal of the crust should allow for further investigation of the relationship between the waterpipe trench and the jar (B34).
