Stratum:   Foundation trench north of Wall 260. The stratum is medium reddish brown sandy silt with 15% pebbles and almost no cobbles, loose.
Notes:   B 27 is the continuation of the foundation trenchs (B 11, B49 NB 957, B 25) farther west. After we excavated the foundation trench, we noticed that it ended at the two stones projecting from Wall 260, which might have formed a cross wall. Furthermore, there it doesn't appear to continue west beyond the two stones. The foundation trench ended when the soil became harder. Furthermore, the foundation trench in this area is a lot narrower than in the eastern half. See pg. 46 for top plan.
