Type:   Basket
Name:   NB980 B21 P61
Area:   Panaghia north
Category:   Basket/zembil
Notebook:   980
Context:   21
Page:   61
Date:   2006/05/24
Stratum:   fill, light brownish brown, very soft, 10% fine-medium pebbles, poorly sorted silty sand
Notes:   This basket is for the removal of fill (the same as B20) which appears to rest just over a whiter, more compact, more clayey stony layer that was revealed in the SE corner of the trench in B20. Test scraping seems to suggest that this more compact layer is underneath the very soft less compact fill throughout the trench. The earth in the NE corner was discovered to be a light reddish brown in color (and is otherwise the same as the rest of B21). We changed baskets as we continued W for the digging of the more reddish earth (B22). There is a slight contamination of B21 due to the incorporation of the NE corner's reddish earth within the basket.
