Stratum:   grave, light brownish brown, very soft, 10-20% fine-medium pebbles poorly sorted silty sand
Notes:   B7 is the excavation of the grave cut to the W of the bone stack (B5). It was found due to the discovery of bones, including metatarsels, to the immediate E of the bone stack during the digging of B5. Presuming that the skeleton's head should be a good deal W of these bones, the area to the W of the bone stack was examined in the search for a grave cutting. A higher pebble concentration in this area in comparison to the surrounding earth, and a softer texture, seemed to indicate the cutting which became B7. A skull of the W extremity of B7 was quickly exposed, with the articulated skeleton continuing to the E. interestingly, the skull is turned to the S, and the entire body is positioned on its side, also facing south. No soil was saved from the beginning of the basket, but we are now saving all B7 soil for sieving. This grave will be labelled as GR2006-01. 2 iron nails have been found immediately N of the pelvis. These nails, along with wood fragments, suggest the presence of a coffin.
