Type:   Basket
Name:   NB981 B4 P16
Area:   Panaghia north
Category:   Basket/zembil
Notebook:   981
Context:   4
Page:   16
Date:   2006/05/25
Stratum:   Fill along the N wall of the villa pool
Notes:   The matrix of this basket is greyey brown weakly cemented sandy silt with 10% pebble inclusions and 2% cobbles. After the pass of B 2 a line was discovered between a deposit that runs along the N edge of the villa pool and the E scarp at ca. 423.4 E, and the matrix fo possible fill and the clay floor. The deposit appears to cut through the surrounding matrix and is likely to be the continuation of NB 978 B 86, that may have been underdug due to the narrowness of the deposit which causes problems in maneuvering as the depth increases. At the west end of the deposit, a looser dark matrix was detected. It appears to be a pit cut through the deposit of B 4, so we have stopped B 4 to dig the pit, and will continue the exploration of the deposit in another basket.
