Notes:   This basket is a continuation of basket 86 begun after an arbitrary stop. Several small finds in the 1st pass include wall plaster and a small shell. Our soil description changed slightly from the previous basket but this seems to be the result of an overnight rain that made the soil slightly moist. We have not noticed any real stratigraphic change yet. With each pass taken by the workmen, a bag of soil was collected for water sieving. A few small bits of charcoal have been uncovered. In the second pass small chunks of mudbricks were discernable. Removed a large cobble from the NW corner. Two passes were taken before closing this basket arbitrarily. Numerous chunks of tile fragments were found throughout the basket, very similar to basket 86. There was one tile fragment that was almost complete. Numerous bits of wall cement lining from the interior of the cistern were found in the basket. The cement lining is brittle and breaks very eaily. Charcoal bits were found throughout the basket; one large charcoal chunk measured 3.5x3cm. Furthermore, a few pieces of bone collected seemed completely burned. Small finds within this basket included: 3-4 wasters, a metal tack/nail (?), small wall plaster fragments, corroded metal fragments, bone and shell fragments, corroded metal fragments, bone and shell. All soil was dry-sieved with the exception of 2 bags collected for water-sieving. Guy Sanders suggested that the size of the cement fragments indicate that they are from floor cement rather than wall. After we took elevations of the bottom of this basket, we realized that there was about a 10 cm difference in elevation at two points. This is the result of our workmen and does not indicate any real slope in the stratum.
