Stratum:   Cistern fill.Light yellowish brown; fine grained soft with 10-15% inclusions (pebbles to cobbles); very poorly sorted. Clayey sand.
Notes:   This basket is a continuation of basket 89 made after a decrease in the number of inclusions in the soil. A bronze coin was found at E 410.71, N 975.92 and elevation 89.60. Small bits of charcoal continue to be found throughout. In the southwest corner in the first pass there is a higher concnetration of mudbrick. Inclusions are cobble to boulder size. A fragment of poorly fired ceramic, possibly a lion head was found at E 410.99, N 975.65, elevation 89.50. The fabric looks very similar to that of our roof tiles and it may be a lion headed water spout. Two passes were made in this basket. The second pass yielded more large chunks of red mudbrick in the southwest corner in addition to large (cobble-boulder) inclusions. One large chunk of charcoal measured about 3 cm in length. Small finds included shells, bones, wall plaster, iron slag, iron and bronze nails, corroded bronze lumps, three loomweight fragments. All soil was dry sieved except for two bags of soil collected for water sieving. The basket was closed at an arbitrary level and we have not noticed any soil change. One half zemibl of roof tiles and cement lining were colected; this is significantly less than the two plus zembils of similar material found in basket 89.
